“It’s that time of the year again. When college girls run around in the freezing cold weather wearing skimpy outfits, weird makeup, and latex. I’m referring to Halloween of course, and around big colleges it’s like the Superbowl of party nights.

Every year it seems like the girl’s costumes get more and more revealing (I swear I saw a girl last year dressed as a hooker). At the parties and bars it’s almost like a contest to see who can show off the most skin.

I always wondered what guys thought of it—how they viewed those girls. So guys…what do you think, do you look at these girls as trashy or slutty? Or do you think it’s hot and sexy??”

Paige, Juliette and Cachet answer the questions like so:

Paige: Halloween weekend on college campuses means one thing: very little clothing on women. As the men high five each other over this fact, we are going to tackle the tough question: Are skimpy Halloween costumes sexy or slutty?

I, for one, find the scantily clad law enforcer and the bikini-wearing firewoman to be completely impractical on an October night. But stay with me here.

Showing off your best assets is always encouraged among women since we are constantly critiquing our own body image. So if you want to wear a tiny Halloween costume, more power to you!

Say you and your best friend have decided to be Mario and Luigi–so what do you wear for the occasion? A pair of overalls with a tube top underneath, of course!

Perhaps a blanket of booze helps the body stay warm, or the excitement of the prowl, but in any case, it is not the outfit that makes one sexy or slutty, it’s the person. Confidence makes any outfit sexy. In other words, work those minimal threads, honey- you’ve got a Toad to catch.

Juliette: Last night, I was more than excited when my Halloween costume arrived in the mail. My friends and I decided to go as ladybugs this year thinking it was simple enough.

As I was putting on my costume, I realized that it did not really cover my assets, if you know what I mean. I thought about returning it and going as a Newsie. However, I convinced myself that this was the one time a year every girl has the right to dress “slutty.”

Most guys think it is hot when a girl who is normally reserved can let her freak flag fly. It shows them that she is not afraid to have a little fun, while at the same time she knows when it is appropriate to act like a lady. Nonetheless, there are limitations to how slutty one may be; there is no need for people to see all of you. There is no problem with being a sexy Snow White or a risqué firefighter as long as you keep it classy. Like mom always said, why buy the milk when you can get the whole cow for free. Oh, mom.

What I do find humorous is the reaction girls have to other girl’s costumes. Guys are pretty simple-minded when it comes to these things, but girls are secretly always in competition with each other.

When a girl wears a skimpy costume, you can hear the cattiness coming from the other females at a party. “She looks like such a slut, why would she wear that?” is the usual response coming from a girl who is one dance move away from popping out of her own costume.

In reality, does it really matter what you wear on Halloween? It is the one day out of 365 that you can be someone else so why not have fun with it? As long as you keep it tasteful 364 days out the year, go ahead and wear that skintight cat suit. More power to you, girl!

Cachet: Let’s be honest. Your wardrobe defines who you are. Females have to seriously contemplate their wardrobe because there is always a cost to pay if you wear the wrong thing. All women want to be respected. Therefore, most respectable women wear clothing that covers most of their body. But, after the same thing everyday, it becomes boring!!!!

Women need a time when we can live out our fantasies, a time when we can put on red lipstick, the shortest shorts we can find, strap up those four inch stilettos and not have to worry about being judged by our friends and family. We don’t have to worry about being ridiculed on Halloween because every other woman is probably revealing a lot of skin as well–maybe even more.

Halloween is the only night when one woman can come across another woman and give her a compliment because she’s wearing a sexy nurse’s costume. In reality, she’s really wearing nothing more than a short white dress, white thigh high stockings and a pair of white pumps. If she was to wear the exact same outfit the following evening, she would automatically be referred to as a slut. As crazy enough as it sounds, that’s just the way the cookie crumbles. Every woman knows the rule and has accepted it.

The reason why the outfits are becoming more revealing is because of the fact that Halloween truly is a competition. Every woman wants to be the girl that all the guys can’t take their eyes off. What makes it even more exciting? Role playing!!!!!

We’re dying to play the part of the character we decided to be for the evening. The woman playing the nurse can’t wait to flirt with a guy, tell him she’s a naughty nurse and he needs a spanking. The woman dressed as the cop can’t wait to slap a pair of handcuffs on her latest crush. Its fun, exciting and secretly we know it’s a man’s dream.

So why do we dress slutty on Halloween? We need a chance to let go and have fun while playing with guys emotions. It really is hilarious to watch guys drool all night. Sorry girls, now our secret is revealed!
