Normandy Nessie Video: MADEIRA BEACH- Normandy Nessie, or the Madeira Beach Monster, is reported to be seen by retiree Russ Sittloh in the canal behind his home. The Florida man described the mysterious creature as 30 feet long and 15 inches in diameter.

Sittloh and his wife, Betty, said, they’ve seen the creature from their Normandy Road(after which the creature is named) waterfront home once in the spring, again in September and twice this month.

Sittloh said his most recent sighting was about a week ago. The creature was in the middle of a school of baitfish, suddenly did a double roll and came back toward Sittloh with a “mouthful of fish.”

The couple used to watch dolphins frolic in their canal, but since Nessie arrived there have been no sign of dolphins, as they claimed.

Russ Sittloh worries that the creature could pose a real danger to people and small animals, particularly to those who swim or kayak in the canal.

However, the “monster” might actually just be a manatee, told Carli Segelson, a biologist with Florida Fish and Wildlife, after reviewing the video of Normandy Nessie.
