SG OIC Head Calls On Islamic Ummah To Assistant Haiti Affetees

JEDDAH: The Secretary General of the Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC) Prof. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu urged all OIC member states and civil society organisations to extend a helping hand to the Haitian population following the devastating earthquake on Jan 12.

The 7.3 magnitude earthquake killed about 75,000 people while 250,000 injured and a million left homeless.

According to Qatar media, Ihsanoglu expressed his shock and sadness following the disaster, which hit the Republic of Haiti and the large scale destruction inflicted on the people of this Island Nation.

He also praised the international community for its swift reaction in responding to the appeal made by Haiti government, Qatar News Agency said.

Ihsanoglu also expressed his gratitude to the OIC member states, which have already provided assistance and displayed solidarity by coming to the rescue of the Haiti people in the wake of this unprecedented catastrophe.

One week after the earthquake that hit the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere, a massive international aid effort is underway as 43 search and rescue teams continue their work.

Ranbir from loverboy to mature man

Ranbir says, “I have usually acted in coming-of-age dramas or done loverboy roles in my films so far. But Rajneeti is my first mature role. It is a dark political thriller and also my first character with grey shades.”

Talking about director, Prakash Jha, Ranbir says, “It was really great to work with Prakash Jha. He is one of the great directors in the industry and has contributed a lot to Indian cinema. The film has a great ensemble cast. We just finished the shooting.”

Fort Hood Victims List: The following is a list of victims of the shooting Thursday at Fort Hood slaughter that left 13 dead and 38 wounded, of whom 30 were hospitalized. The list is compiled from various media reports around the country. Authorities have not released the names of victims until Friday at noon.

Major Randy Royer, of Dothan, Alabama, was shot.
PVT. Raymundo “Ray” Saucedo, 26, of Greenville, Mich., had a bullet grazed his arm.
George Stratton III, 18, of Post Falls, Idaho, was shot in the shoulder.
Patrick Zeigler, 28, Orange County, Fla., was seriously injured.

WANA: The political district administration will provide special facilities of health and education to the affectees of operation Rah-e- Nijat reached to Tank.

Assistant political officer Khalid Mehmood told Geo News that registration of affected children will be kicked off from today and special classes will be started from November 1 in the schools of Ranowal, Sheikh Otar, Chadhar, Gyara Baloch, Gomal, Tank City, Cantt, Kot Hadiqq and Dabra. Assistant political officer said special arrangements have been made in Gomal Bazaar, Kot Azam, Kot Hakeem, Dabra and district headquarter hospital Tank to provide health facilities to affectees . The mobile hospitals have also been reached in the area from FATA secretariat Peshawar.

Robert threatened David to either pay $2 million extortion money or he’ll be using blackmail material (some pages derived from Stephanie’s personal diary whereby she admitted her affair with her boss, David Letterman) for a screenplay and writing a book to ruin the careers of both David and Stephanie.

Subsequently Robert J. Halderman was arrested while presenting the counterfeit check at bank, as advised by the Manhattan District Attorney office, to trap the (by then) anonymous perpetrator, though he was found not guilty later.

Bipasha Basu Wants Pest Control!

Bipasha Basu is loving every minute of her shoot with Priyadarshan in Karaikudi near Madurai in Tamil Nadu, but she is petrified of the mosquitoes that have been troubling her.
While the producers have made loads of arrangements to try and keep the pests away, the occasional mosquito still bays for the unit’s blood.

A funny conversation was heard between the sexy Bengali bombshell and one of the production assistants.

Said Bips to the assistant, “Make sure that mosquitoes don’t come anywhere near me. I don’t want to get bitten. I’m mortally scared of getting malaria.”

Apparently, the assistant replied: “Madam, don’t worry… first of all I have made sure that mosquitoes don’t come near you.

And, God forbid, even one or two come they will not bite you.” Bips apparently rolled with laughter when she heard this. She has heard of men talking to their pets. But she has never heard of a man talking to pests (mosquitoes in this case.)
