There is no mistaking Care Bears on Fire are the real deal! These three girls (between 13-14) formed the band while attending Rock Camp for Girls and based on their shared love for the first wave of NY punk artists like Patti Smith and The Ramones. Their infectious sound and rebellious spirit are an encouragement to all ages of fresh air. What better way to make his debut in a hymn to assert their individuality with an accompanying color-by-numbers video inspired? Watch the video.

Mary Weiland, Forsberg Mary Weiland

latest news updated, Mary Weiland, Forsberg Mary Weiland Mary Weiland was the wife of Scott Weiland, lead singer of the 1990s grunge band Stone Temple Pilots. I will never forget his song “Interstate Love Song” for many reasons, I will not mention here.
Mary WeilandForsberg Mary Weiland recently wrote about his time with Scott and the band in his memoir, “Fall to Pieces: A Memoir of Drugs, Rock n ‘Roll’, and mental illness.” Mary, a divorced former model, wrote the book with Larkin Warren, a former editor of Esquire.

It seems that Scott and Mary lived to the name of the band by getting stoned all the time. Both are linked to heroin. Mary recalls once soared as both had to wear long-sleeved shirts to hide the needle marks when he attended a July fourth launched by Leonardo DiCaprio in his Malibu home.

I remembered a scene from the film “Waiting to Exhale” When I read what Mary did in March 2007. It appears that Scott’s closet dragged into his path and set it on fire. She landed in a psychiatric hospital with a diagnosis of bipolar disorder for their actions. (Do not remember that happening in the movie.)

Mary said the experience of fire, “The fire was huge and very pretty. Everything went up in smoke quickly, except footwear of leather, Gucci was the longest. News reports said they had burned $ 10,000 worth of Scott’s clothes, he was wrong by a factor of eight. I was a little insulted in his estimate: “Eighty thousand dollars, Maria, said later.

Mary was just 16 when he entered a life of sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll to include heroin and crack. Scott Weiland is credited with the breakup of the band because of their wild behavior.

The memoirs of Mary was released on 10 November if you want to read more. It is sad to think that these guys were so stoned when they sang some of my favorite songs.

Latest news Upated, Exile on Main Street: Phish will cover the Rolling Stones’ famed 1972 release Exile On Main Street this evening as party of its Halloween tradition of covering another artist’s album in its entirety. The band broke the news by handing out a series of “Phishbill” programs to fans as they entered the venue area of the band’s Festival 8 site Saturday afternoon.
Exile on Main Street
Sharon Jones, the lead singer of the Dap-Kings, will sing backup with the group. In addition, Dave Guy (trumpet), David Smith (trombone), Tony Jarvis (sax guitar) and Saundra Williams (vocals) will support the group during its set.

Phish fans should be familiar with the Stones’ double LP, as the band has covered the album’s ninth track, “Loving Cup,” since the 1990s. The Phishbill comes complete with an essay on Exile on Main Street written by rock scribe David Fricke, fake advertisements for David Bowie with UB40 shows at Miami, Fl’s American Airlines Arena from December 28-31

(where Phish is rumored to play this New Year’s Eve) and Time Turns Elastic Sweatpants, and humorous band bios (and who doesn’t love the sweet vocals on Page “Mc” Connell). In an elaborate Who’s Who in the Crew section, the band also jokes that Tour Manager Richard Glasgow “currently owns stock in Ticketmaster, TicketsNow, eBay, Stubhub, MusicToday and Craigslist” (no wonder Phish tickets sell out so quickly).

Who: Vedera
Album: ‘Stages’
Video: ‘Satisfy’
Hails From: Kansas City, MO
For Fans Of: The Cranberries and Coldplay

Why They’re About to Pop: Kristen May (vocals, guitar, keyboards) grew up with her bandmates in Blue Springs, MO, a suburb of Kansas City. She was raised in a musical family, so she was influenced by her mom’s Joni Mitchell and Carole King records while also exploring Stone Temple Pilots and Nirvana, the bands her brother was into.
Vedera, Vedera LyricsMay got her first guitar at age 17 and began penning her own songs. Brian Little and May knew each other in high school and started a band together after dropping out of college. In 2003, high-school friend Jason Douglas was asked to join the outfit along with Little’s younger brother Drew. The four-piece released their ‘This Broken City’ EP in 2004, touring with SoCal rockers Thrice. A year later, Vedera released their first full-length album, ‘The Weight of an Empty Room,’ and were asked to join the likes of Mutemath, Eisley, and Jason Mraz on tour. Now, boasting a tour resume that includes The Fray, Plain White Ts and All-American Rejects, Vedera is ready to take on the world with their major-label debut, ‘Stages.’

“We’re a family and we’re very devoted to this life and to our music,” May says. “We try to be as honest as we can and put everything we have out there with as much conviction as possible.” ‘Stages’ will be available on iTunes on October 6.

Six Questions With Lead Singer Kristen May:

What artists have influenced the band’s sound?

U2, the Sundays, Coldplay, Sunny Day Real Estate, the Cranberries and the Smashing Pumpkins.

What song are you most excited about from your new album ‘Stages,’ and why?

‘Satisfy’ because it’s our first single! Also ‘Goodbye My Love’ because it was a song we put on the album at the last second and it is a bit unexpected in a really good way.

You have covered MGMT’s ‘Weekend Wars’ and Beyonce’s ‘Halo.’ Do you have any other covers in the works?

We are always jamming around cover songs at practice. I tried a piano version of ‘Last Goodbye by Jeff Buckley the other day and I think we are going to give ‘Sunday Bloody Sunday’ a try on our next tour.

You’ve spent the summer on the road with the Fray and Jack’s Mannequin. What’s the best memory you have from that tour?

Probably the last day when everyone was pranking one another on stage. There were about three pranks pulled off by each of the bands (starting with the Fray pranking us) and it just continued with the crew getting involved, too. At first, it was awkward, and then it just got progressively more and more humorous and exciting to see what was going to happen next. The crowd in Spokane loved it!

What are some things you can’t live without on the road?

Coffee and music.

What are you looking forward to as you embark on tour with Mat Kearney?

Hanging out with him and his band. Brian and I met them not too long ago in Kansas City and they were really sweet people. Getting to know other musicians is always a highlight.

What was it like making the video for your single, ‘Satisfy’?

It was very exciting! The director, James Frost, was really easy to work with and we just had a really good time. It was great to collaborate with him and come up with a video that we all love and feel reflects the song and us as a band.

The Replacements

October 2, 2009 by lee

I know I recently said that Pere Ubu sound like the Midwest – all post-industrial, bent-out-of-shape weirdness – but the very heart and soul of Midwestern rock n’ roll was, and still is The Replacements.  Why?  Because unlike the Jersey boys and girls that Springsteen sang about who just wanted to get the fuck out and start new lives, Paul Westerberg wrote anthems for the throngs of bored but not too lazy to go anywhere kids from the Rust Belt: the dairy towns of Wisconson, the burnt out Detroit suburbs, and of course his home state where many are born but few ever leave, Minnesota.
The ReplacementsIn October of 1985, to celebrate the release of the album Tim – the one that would surely make them the biggest band in the universe – The ‘Mats took their hometown of Minneapolis by storm with a five night stand at the 7th Street Entry.  A second after some random crowd member yells out “more amphetamines” like beer-soaked tigers sprung from their cage, Westerberg and Co. absolutely rip the venue apart for a set nearly two times the length of the album they were releasing.

Giving a listen to this show, one grasps that The Replacements might have been on the cusp of becoming the group of guys that made it, one hit away from forever cementing their reputation as the great American band.  But something went wrong, and like many of the greats they came up just short in their own time only to influence an entire generation after their demise.  But on this autumn night in October, from the originals to the covers (Alice Cooper’s classic “Eighteen” makes an appearance here), there was no band that could match The Replacements in the entire world.  I’d be hard pressed to find anyone that could even today, but as things go it was just never meant to be.

Following a critically acclaimed box-set, a duet recording with Ricky Scaggs and a jazz trio album w/ Christian McBride & Jack DeJohnette, the beloved songwriter/pianist/vocalist Bruce Hornsby returns to the format that has brought his greatest commercial success. Accompanied by his seasoned touring band the Noisemakers, Hornsby’s stellar new songs are presented in dynamic arrangements with his signature blend of rock, country, pop & jazz and featuring some of the finest vocal performances of Bruce’s illustrious career.
Bruce HornsbyThe title track is the end theme for Spike Lee’s documentary Kobe at Work about the NBA superstar Kobe Bryant. Bruce also wrote the score (his first). Hornsby has a featured role (as himself) in the film World’s Greatest Dad opening August 21st starring Robin Williams directed by Bobcat Goldthwait and featuring several Hornsby songs including the Levitate track “Invisible” A

The album is the first Hornsby release co-credited to his longstanding touring band the Noisemakers, an appropriately eclectic outfit that includes bassist J.V. Collier, guitarist Doug Derryberry, drummer Sonny Emory, reeds player Bobby Read and keyboardist John “J.T.” Thomas.

Levitate (which Hornsby co-produced with studio vet Tony Berg) also features guest appearances by Eric Clapton on “Space Is the Place” and fiddler Andy Leftwitch, a longtime mainstay of Ricky Skaggs’ band, on “The Black Rats of London.”

The album is dedicated to the memory of Hornsby’s talented nephew R.S. Hornsby, who frequently performed with Bruce as guest guitarist, and who was killed in a car accident six days after recording a memorable solo on “Continents Drift.”
