Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani is a total paisa-vasool family entertainment, a eye-candy star cast, good performances and ample funny moments.

Honestly, I went to watch this film only to see Ranbir and Katrina. I thought they made a very cute teenage couple in the promos. The story, I must say, is not very impressive with some unnecessary and stupid (the Jesus scene in the end, the opening scenes), some slapstick (the fighting scenes with don’s men), some hilarious (Ranbir’s monologue with God at church, his scenes with his father) and some cute moments.

Ranbir plays Prem a school drop-out who keeps fooling around with his friends and members of his Happy Club and he falls in love with Jenny who is a Christian orphan. Ranbir takes the entire course of the film to profess his love to his lady who takes equal time to realize that true love lies in Ranbir.

Ranbir puts up a good show as a happy-go-lucky guy in love, Katrina has also improved and she does well in her role. There is also a Paresh Rawal-kinda-act with Sajid Don and Robert but it doesn’t really work. There are few bits inspired from Rajkumar Santoshi’s classic comedy Andaz Apna Apna but just not as hilarious.

The film is a joy ride with some potholes in the script, characterization, and story. Nonetheless, its an ideal family entertainer that most of the masses would enjoy!

The Washington Post has rightly called not factor Chairman. A Washington Post editorial says, “A” no “factor has real implications for President Obama’s agenda – health care, climate, and spending in particular. Their position is rather hypocritical seeing that their favorite network, Fox Opinion News, does the same thing.

Last week, I did a thread about how Dr. Jason Fodeman wasn’t just a fresh faced young medical school graduate without an axe to grind; but rather, a right wing partisan whose right wing partisanship began with a book, written when he was 17, which attacked the Clinton’s.

Last week, Bill O’Reilly attacked the city of Kent, Connecticut for denying the request of a local man, whose son was killed on 9-11, to have the words “murdered by Muslim terrorists,” engraved on the public memorial on town property. Bill was outraged and asserted that he will harass the town until they say “uncle” and get that incendiary wording on that memorial.

But like Fox&Friends, Bill didn’t provide any background information on Peter Gadiel apart from the 9-11 connection. Turns out that Gadiel is no stranger to right wing politics and no stranger to Fox News. And that’s fine. But shouldn’t O’Reilly have said something. Just saying….

Peter Gadiel is on the Board of “9/11 Famlies For A Secure America Foundation” which is a spin off from the anti-immigration group “Federation for American Immigration Reform.” The first person named to the 9/11 Families Board was former Colorado Governor Richard Lamm who has said that “new cultures” in the U.S. are “diluting what we are and who we are.”

According to Mr. Gadiel’s description on the 9/11 website “He has volunteered full time since 2002 to help persuade government to secure America’s borders, and for eliminating the magnets which draw illegal aliens to the United States including amnesty, the ability to work in the U.S., ‘free’ public education, ‘free’ health care, welfare, drivers’ licenses, government guaranteed mortgages, etc.”

He was a speaker at a 2007 “Hold Their Feet To The Fire” rally which consisted of right wing radio hosts, led by Roger Hedgecock, to “expose illegal alien amnesty.” He is also quoted as saying “Americans must sleep with loaded pistols at their bedsides because so many of them have been attacked by illegal aliens [who were] ‘just going to America for a job.’”

And a search of You Tube finds Gadiel appearing on Neil Cavuto’s show (speaking about granting drivers licenses to illegals) and being interviewed by Greg Jarrett about a billboard in North Carolina which claimed that giving licenses to illegals was giving licenses to terrorists.

He also appeared on Hannity & Colmes where he discussed the life sentence of Zacarias Moussaoui. Not surprisingly, he has appeard on CNN”s Lou Dobbs show during which Dobbs said that Gadiel was being investigated by Mexico over Gadiel’s statement regarding a Mexican identification card.

It’s a classic whodunit, starting with the rape and murder of a 13-year-old girl and ending in a lynching. It was grist for a prosecutor’s political aspirations, a case that was appealed all the way to the country’s highest court and a story hotly debated in the national press.
At the center of it all was Leo Frank, a northern Jew who’d moved to Atlanta to supervise the National Pencil Company factory. When the body of Mary Phagan, a white child laborer, was found in the basement, law enforcement homed in on Frank. He was tried and convicted, based on what most historians say was the perjured testimony of a black man, and sentenced to death. But when the governor commuted his sentence in 1915, about 25 men abducted Frank, 31, from the state prison and hung him from a tree in Marietta, Georgia.

Considered one of the most sensational trials of the early 20th century, the Frank case seemed to press every hot-button issue of the time: North vs. South, black vs. white, Jew vs. Christian, industrial vs. agrarian.

In the years since, it has inspired numerous books and films, TV programs, plays, musicals and songs. It has fueled legal discussions, spawned a traveling exhibition and driven public forums.

Latest News Updated, Trick or Treat Times, Halloween Times: I would wager that 100% of people in the western world know what trick-or-treating is. If your childhood didn’t include trick-or-treating, that’s a shame. Admittedly, the practice seems strange outside of the context of Halloween. Grown adults let their children run through darkened streets dressed in costumes to knock on strangers’ doors and ask for candy.

If I think about it that way, maybe your childhood would have been better if you didn’t go trick-or-treating. You never know who is going to open that door. But before we go out begging for candy, let’s learn a little bit about the history of trick-or-treating._

This Saturday the 31st of October, 2009 is All Hallows Eve. It is the last day of Summer on our calendar and the last day of the year on the ancient Celtic calendar. According to Celtic lore, the barrier between this world and the next is unusually thin on this night.

It was so thin that spirits, good and evil, could pass through and enter our world. To ward off the bad spirits, people dressed up as evil spirits to keep from being haunted. This is the origin ofthe practice of dressing up on Hallowe’en.

The practice of going door to door asking for edibles has its roots in the Christian practice of “souling.” November 1st is All Saints Day (also called Hallowmas) during which the saints who are in heaven are honored and commemorated by the living.

November 2nd is All Souls Day. This day differs in that religious people, specifically Catholics, pray for the souls of those have died but are not yet pure enough to enter heaven. Poor people would go house to house, asking for “soul cakes,” nuts, fruit or any kind of food. In exchange, the peasants would pray for the souls of the departed on All Souls Day._

But the idea of threatening people with “tricks” if treats were not given goes back to a Medieval pagan practice in Scotland, called “guising.” I mentioned above that October 31st was the end of theCeltic calendar . The Scots and the Irish held a festival on this night to celebrate the end of the year and the harvest.

The festival was called Samhain (pronounced sow-in or sau-an). People (called “guisers”) disguised themselves as evil spirits and would fill the night with song and dance to ward off the spirits. Another way to keep from getting haunted by spirits was to give “soul cakes” to the guisers who distributed them to the poor. Guisers would troll the streets using songs and dances to ask for treats and offer protection against the spirits. Presumably, the charitable act of giving treats kept the spirits at bay.

Those who refused the guisers any treats were “tricked” or playfully tormented by the costumed paraders. These tricks included “stopping up chimneys with pieces of turf, blowing smoke through keyholes, and smashing glass bottles against walls to simulate the sound of windows smashing.
