NEW YORK: The trial of Dr Aafia Siddiqui, the Pakistani neuroscientist who is charged with shooting at her US interrogators in Afghanistan, will move into the final stage Monday, after both the prosecution and defence deliver their closing arguments.

The 16-member jury will go into deliberations in an effort to reach its verdict as soon as the winding up statements are delivered. According to experts, the verdict could come early next week.
Ms. Siddiqui’s trial began in the U.S. District Court on January 19. She is accused of grabbing a M-4 rifle and firing at U.S. soldiers and FBI agents who had gone to a police station in Ghazni, a day after her arrest in that Afghan city in July 2008. No one was hit in the incident, but Ms. Siddqui was shot in the stomach by a US soldier.
On Friday, before the court recesses for the weekend, a prosecution attempt to undercut Mrs. Siddiqui’s moving testimony denying the attempted murder and assault charges failed as the exercise left two of three government witnesses flustered under some sharp cross-examination by defence lawyers.
The family’s spokesman, attorney Tina Foster of the International Justice Network, has said she is hopeful of a positive outcome. At the same time, she said that regardless of how weak the prosecution’s case, which currently looks like a flea circus, it all comes down to whether an American jury can acquit a woman with a scarf covering her face.

Ufc 106 Results: latest news about, The Tito Ortiz and Forrest Griffin main event just ended and we have the complete UFC 106 results ready to go.
Everyone saw the controversial decision in the first Tito Ortiz and Forrest Griffin fight and the judges’ decision in the second is equally head-scratching according to these UFC 106 results. Forrest Griffin took the decision 30-27, 29-28, and 28-29 although most thought he lost the first two rounds before coming back and dominating in the 3rd when Tito looked gassed.
Anthony “Rumble” Johnson swung hard against Josh “Kos” Koscheck but the knockout artist could not overcome Koscheck’s wrestling (and eye pokes) as “Rumble” was choked out in the 2nd via rear naked choke. The UFC 106 results show both fighters connected with hard punches but Johnson could never stop the 2nd round takedown attempts.
Other UFC 106 results show that it did not take Antonio Rogerio Nogueira “Minotauro” Nogueira very long at all to dispatch top light heavyweight title contender Luis “Banha” Cane and the brother of the former interim heavyweight champion knocked out Cane in the 1st round.
Amir Sadollah battered Phil “The New York Bad Ass” for 3 rounds and easily won the decision. These UFC 106 results were not unexpected after Sadollah used a steady stream of kicks and defense to tire out the hard-hitting Baroni.
The last UFC 106 results of the main card had Paulo Thiago getting a well deserved decision victory against UFC-newcomer Jacob “Christmas” Volkmann. Thiago knocked down Volkmann a few times but “Christmas” never quit and had a decent chance to tap Paulo with a choke before the Brazilian pulled out to seal the victory.
The Spike TV UFC 106 results had Kendall “Da Spyder” Grove choking out wrestler Jake Rosholt by triangle in the 1st round and Ben “Killa B” Saunders giving the first career knockout to Marcus “The Irish Hand Grenade” Davis following some killer Saunders’ knees.

Belichick, Bill Belichick
Belichick, Bill Belichick: Former Patriots safety Rodney Harrison said the decision of Bill Belichick ordered to go on fourth down against the Colts on Sunday night was the “worst decision” in his coaching career.

Belichick allowed Tom Brady to throw in the fourth down on the Patriots own 28-yard line with 2:08 left. The Patriots gained just a yard, and the Colts responded with a 29-yard drive that has got to come from behind 35-34 win.
“It was a very bad decision by coach Belichick,” Harrison said in his role as an analyst for NBC. “He has to clear the ball.
“You can not give an opportunity for Peyton Manning in the yard 30.”
Belichick said he “tried to win the game on that play.”
“I thought I could make the playground,” he said. “We had a good game, we’re done. I do not know how we could not get a yard in which the conclusion, but I guess not.”
Harrison said Belichick may have damaged the confidence of his defense by refusing to put the game on their hands.
