He called for regular consultations and coordination between the two sides in the deployment of U.S. forces in Afghanistan, strengthening the mechanism of border Coordination Center, the fencing of border between Pakistan and Afghanistan, the introduction of the telemetry system to contain the supply of arms and drugs and stop the flow of undesirable elements from Afghanistan to Pakistan.

The Prime Minister was referring to Gen. James L. Jones (R), USA National Security Advisor to President Obama, who on Friday asked the PM House. The Prime Minister noted that the reimbursement of U.S. claims Pakistan Coalition Support Fund was too late and urged to be resolved without delay in order to strengthen the hands of Pakistan in its ongoing operations against extremists and terrorists.

He noted that the provision of access to markets and the establishment of reconstruction opportunity zones through Rozs project approval and delivery to the U.S. promises to help Pakistan in energy sector can be very helpful in removing the misperceptions about the U.S. prevalent among the general public in the country.

In this regard, requested that the solar system supply generators based on Swat, Malakand and other areas affected by terrorism. The Prime Minister recalled that U.S. Secretary of State during his recent visit to Pakistan had agreed to the resumption of strategic results-oriented dialogue on the basis of the roadmap provided by Pakistan and declared that the dialogue must be scheduled in the near future.

The Prime Minister also drew the attention of the U.S. National Security Advisor to rapidly deteriorating conditions of the road network of communication between Karachi and Peshawar and Karachi and Quetta Chaman between sectors due to the heavy container traffic carrying supplies for the forces of ISAF. It is hoped that the U.S. Pakistan will help in upgrading its road infrastructure to ensure no interruptions in supplies without problems for its forces in Afghanistan.

The Prime Minister said that while Pakistan is fully committed to making ongoing operations of removal of its territory by terrorists and extremists to its logical conclusion, his forces were too stretched because of continuing tension in the eastern border. It is imperative that the U.S. must be sensitive to the fundamental interests of Pakistan, Kashmir, namely the water problem, the military capabilities of India and the requirements of balance of power in South Asia.

The U.S. therefore, must use its influence with India for resumption of global dialogue and the reduction of tension with Pakistan to allow Pakistan to focus their attention and energies on the fight against militancy and terrorism, he added. General James L. Jones (R), informed the Prime Minister who was sent to Islamabad by U.S. President to ensure the leadership of Pakistan of its sincere intention to continue a long-term strategic partnership based on reciprocal interests and mutual respect.

The U.S. regards Pakistan as its strategic ally and wanted to proceed in a new way forward through consultation and coordination in all relevant bilateral issues including those related to combating terrorism and insurgency, he added.

He agreed with the Prime Minister that the new U.S. policy in Afghanistan should be formulated taking into account the vital interests of Pakistan. James said that the U.S. has pledged to help Pakistan economically, in rebuilding areas affected by militancy and building the capacity of their forces. The U.S. also work to strengthen coordination between their forces and Pakistan through better exchange of intelligence to defeat the common enemy.

He assured the Prime Minister that the Obama administration fully recognizes the concerns of Pakistan on the long-term peace and security in South Asia and keep urging Indian leaders to return to the dialogue process.

Defense Minister Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar, Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin, Senator Sughra Syeda Imam, Secretary of Defense Lt. Gen. Syed Athar Ali (R) and Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir, were present at the meeting. Ms Anne W Patterson, U.S. Ambassador in Pakistan, was also present during the meeting.

This generation’s James Dean
Well, Edward Cullen at least. But we kind of think Robert Pattinson continues to channel James Dean long after Twilight filming is done for the day. Robert Pattinson is definitely following in James Dean’s teen heartthrob footsteps. We like to call him the James Dean of this generation.

Dick Vitale

Dick Vitale: I know, I know. The college basketball season doesn’t start for several months. But I am so excited about the 2009-10 season. People come up to me and ask if I think their favorite team will do well.
Dick Vitale
So I sat down and drafted my early rankings for the upcoming campaign. Here’s the list, the elite class that I consider the top in the land. Disagree with some of my choices? It’s college basketball, baby, so let the exciting debates begin!

DICK VITALE: PRESEASON TOP 40 FOR 2009-10 SEASON

1. Kansas: Bill Self’s team is led by Cole Aldrich and Sherron Collins, two members of my All-Rolls-Royce first team. The Jayhawks are loaded with the Morris twins, Tyshawn Taylor and newcomer Xavier Henry.

2. Kentucky: John Calipari has made a major difference and his first season in Lexington should be special. The Wildcats were aided with the return of Patrick Patterson. Then check out diaper dandies like John Wall and DeMarcus Cousins. Fans of Big Blue will be jumping with joy.

3. Michigan State: Tom Izzo’s squad made it to the finals last season, creating excitement galore in Detroit. Kalin Lucas is arguably the premier player in the Big Ten. Look for big things from Delvon Roe, while Raymar Morgan needs to return to earlier form.

4. Texas: AJ Abrams is gone, but Rick Barnes still has reason for optimism. Damion James pulled out of the NBA draft to return to Austin. The Longhorn recruiting class, led by Avery Bradley, is outstanding. The Big 12 will have a great battle between Kansas and Texas.

5. Duke: Gerald Henderson is gone, but Coach K has the dynamic duo of Kyle Singler and Jon Scheyer back. The Blue Devils will also miss Elliot Williams, who transferred to Memphis.

6. Purdue: If Robbie Hummel can stay healthy, watch out. Matt Painter has a lot of returning talent to challenge the Spartans in the Big Ten.

7. Villanova: Jay Wright had to be thrilled when Scottie Reynolds said no to the NBA and came back to the Big East. Wright has a super class coming in, plus Corey Fisher and Corey Stokes among the returning talent.

8. North Carolina: The Tar Heels will not have to rebuild; they will simply reload. Most schools would fall way down after losing Tyler Hansbrough, Ty Lawson, Wayne Ellington and Danny Green. Roy Williams has one of the best recruiting classes coming in, while players like Ed Davis will step up big time.

9. West Virginia: Devin Ebanks and Da’Sean Butler lead a tough Mountaineer squad. Bob Huggins believes he can contend for a Big East title.

10. Illinois: Bruce Weber has a solid nucleus returning, plus a fine recruiting class. Most look at Michigan State and Purdue as the top threats in the Big Ten. Don’t sleep on the Illini as a challenger.

11. Michigan: John Beilein has rebuilt the Wolverines. Manny Harris and DeShawn Sims are back as Michigan will be dancing again.

12. Tennessee: Tyler Smith decided pull out of the NBA draft to come back to school. Bruce Pearl was happy with that decision.

13. Connecticut: Jim Calhoun lost the likes of Hasheem Thabeet and A.J. Price. The Huskies will remain a solid team with Jerome Dyson and Stanley Robinson leading the way.

14. California: The Golden Bears will have one of the best backcourts in America in Jerome Randle and Patrick Christopher. Mike Montgomery’s team is capable of winning the Pac-10.

15. Florida State: Leonard Hamilton lost star guard Toney Douglas, but he has depth and talent. Solomon Alabi has a world of potential up front.

16. Washington: Lorenzo Romar’s club bounced back last season. Even without Jon Brockman, the Huskies will make noise this season.
