Singer Jessica Simpson has revealed that while she was concerned about reports criticising her weight gain, she found that many countries outside the US prefer their women to be big.

Simpson, 29, who had made a trip to Africa recently for a programme for VH1 about the world’s various social standards of beauty, was shocked to find that she was considered too underweight to be attractive in their culture.

According to Digital Spy, Simpson revealed one trip to Uganda with friend her CaCee Cobb that found particularly eye opening.

“The men told CaCee and I that we would have to [gain weight] for them to consider marrying us!” the Daily Telegraph quoted her as telling Us Weekly.

She said: “I definitely will marry an artistic man. It will show you the colors of my character, the person that I fall in love with next. I don’t even have a type! I don’t have a physical type. I have an emotional type,” she told mag. “When you have yourself together, I don’t care what you look like at all. You can be tall; you can be short.”

Jessica Simpson has confessed that she is open to looking for love on the Internet after a string of failed relationships.

The singer was said to have decided to move on after breaking up with footballer Tony Romo earlier this year.

Romo put an end to their nearly two-year relationship on the eve of Simpson’s birthday in July.

And now, the 29-year-old actress, whose former beaus include Nick Lachey and John Mayer, said she has considered looking for love online.
