KARACHI, Pakistan News: Karachi Accountability Court has acquitted Rehman Malik in tar coal contract case today.
Talking to media outside the court, Rehman said finally justice won.

Rehman was alleged of giving a national oil refinery’s 50,000 tons tar coal contract to one of his relatives. However, the court acquitted him owing to lack of evidence. The minister noted that Saifur Rehman implicated fake cases against him in every city, and termed them politically moved. He maintained that he would be exonerated in all NAB references. Rehman said Abdul Malik Rigi’s identity card was fake.
Funeral Prayers for Victims of Explosions in Karachi Offered

KARACHI, Pakistan News: The combined funeral prayers of 14 people martyred in yesterday’s twin planted bombs on Sharah-e-Faisal have been offered.

Allama Kausar Abbas Naqvi led the funeral prayers.
People in large number gathered at Husaini Mission RCD Ground well ahead the funeral prayers were offered, as Karachi presented a deserted look.
Heavy contingents of police and Rangers kept sealed the areas around the funeral ground. The markets and commercial centers yesterday announced to remain closed.
The leaders of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) also were present on the occasion.
All the deceased would be laid to rest at Model Colony cemetery.
According to Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) announcement, the funeral prayers of their workers martyred in bombing at Jinnah Hospital, would be offered after Zuhr prayers at Jinnah Ground.
The funeral services for the Christian people who were killed in bombing at Jinnah Hospital, would be observed at Saint Patrick’s Cathedral today and they would be laid to rest at the cemetery near FTC on Sharah-e-Faisal.
The deceased whose funeral prayers were offered included Anjum Hussain, Babar Ali, Zahid Ali, Asif Hussain, Kazim Hussain, Shehanshah Hussain, Salman Hussain, Shahid Ali s/o Rajab Ali, Toqeer Hussain s/o Zameer Hussain, Muhammed Ali s/o Muhammed Ashfaque, Ahmed s/o Muhammed Taqi, Zain s/o Sohrab Hyder, Anwar Abbas and Amir Hussain.
Karachi Twin Blast, 25 Kiled, 60 Injured

KARACHI, Pakistan News: At least 25 people were killed and 100 other wounded on Friday after two bombs planted on motorcycles struck a bus at Shahra-e-Faisal and Jinnah Hospital in Karachi.

Women and children were among 12 people killed when a motorcyle packed with explosives rammed into a bus of mourners travelling on Shahra-e-Faisal to join a procession at the end of the holy month of Muharram.
A second bomb attack took place near the emergency ward at Jinnah Hospital, where the dead and wounded were being rushed, killed another 13 people.
Witnesses and officials said the bus was packed with mourners heading to a religious procession to mark the last day of Muharram in Karachi.
The attacks were carried out by suicide bombers on motorcycles, a bomb disposal official said.
“Both of the blasts are of the same nature. Both were suicide and both were on motorcycles,” Munir Ahmad Sheikh, told Geo.
“In the first attack, the bomber hit the bus. In the second attack, the bomber sitting on a motorcycle exploded himself,” he added.

KARACHI, Pakistan News: As many as ten people were killed in a severe blast that rocked the entrance of a hospital’s emergency ward where the wounded of a deadly suicide attack occurred an hour before were being treated.

Near 12 dead bodies and 50 wounded of a suicide attack of today’s noon on a bus carrying Shiite mourners to Chehlum procession had been rushed to the emergency ward of Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Center. Hundreds of victims’ attendees, relatives and media persons were gathered outside the JPMC’s emergency when the blast occurred just in front of the ward.
The blast which apparently occurred in a motorcycle was as severe as it shattered all the windowpanes of the hospital and damaged many of the parked ambulances, cars and motorcycles and other installations.
Dozens of people have also been injured in the attack and were rushed to other medical facilities, including Civil, Liaquat National and Aga Khan hospitals, as the emergency of JPMC – that was already filled to capacity with the victims of noon’s attack – was also damaged in the blast.
Security has further been beefed up at the blast site, the channel added.

The ambulances have been dispatched towards the blast site. The ambulances are being shifted to the hospitals.
Police and other rescue workers have arrived on the spot. The road leading to Saddar has been blocked and the blast site has been cordoned off.
High Meeting to Discuss Law and Order Situation in Karachi

Karachi, Pakistan News: A high level meeting to discuss law and order situation in Karachi has been called today. Interior Minister Rehman Malik will also attend the meeting.

On the other hand, Prime Minister Yoursaf Raza Gilani telephoned MQM leader Altaf Hussain and the Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah to discuss the law and order situation prevailing in Karachi.
PM and Altaf Husain have agreed to continue the process of political reconciliation. The PM advised the CM Sindh to take measures to bring Karachi’s situation back to normal.
Earlier, a meeting between the President and the PM in the presidency reviewed several issues including the ongoing wave of violence in Karachi, implementation of decision on NRO and the progress in war on terror. It was decided that concrete steps would be taken to improve the law and order situation in Karachi.
President Zardari has spoken to Sindh Provincial Minister Zulfikar Mirza and Aga Siraj Durani. In the telephonic conversation, Interior Minister Rehman Malik and MQM leader Altaf Hussain agreed to take steps to normalise situation in Karachi. They agreed to take action against land mafia and criminal gangs.

KARACHI, Pakistan News: Seven more people were gunned down late on Monday night when some unidentified armed assailants opened indiscriminate fire in the Nazimabad and Khwaja Ajmer Nagri localities of metropolis city, mounting the death toll to 26.

According to reports, unknown armed men started firing near Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, killing four people, two of them on the spot. While two others succumbed to injuries in the hospital. Immediately after the incident, the hospitals’ doors were closed.
Later, another incident of indiscriminate fire occurred near Abbasi Phatak located underneath Nazimabad Bridge, killing 5 persons on the spot including a youth who resided in nearby flats, police sources said.
Two persons were gunned down in Orangi Town and Qasba Colony while the deceased persons were reportedly hailing from two different political parties and used to serve as their activists, sources claimed.
The incident seems to be the part of recent spate of target killing in city, according to police.
PM Gilani Report On Recent Killed in Karachi

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan News: Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani asked for a report from the Sindh government on the recent incidents of killing in Karachi and on the situation arising out of these incidents.

He was talking to the Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah over telephone to inquire about the developments being reported by the media. Later, he also talked to Governor Sindh Dr. Ishrat-ul- Ebad and asked him to coordinate with the Chief Minister to help defuse the situation.
The Chief Minister Sindh while briefing the Prime Minister on the developments, informed him that the situation is under control and he has called a special meeting on law and order on February 4 to resolve the issues.
The Prime Minister told the Chief Minister that he would take a tour of Sindh on February 7 and meet the MPAs of the Sindh Assembly as well as leaders and organization committee of PPP Sindh in order to settle issues causing disturbances.
The Prime Minister also asked the Chief Minister that the contract employees of water courses be regularized on permanent basis.
Karachi Shot Count Mounts to 12, Injures 15

KARACHI, Pakistan news: The death tally in Karachi target killing shooting incidents has mounted to 12 persons and wounded 15 in last 36 hours.

The spate of firing, commenced in Orangi Town and Qasba Colony localities on Friday night, is still in progress with regular intervals while police claimed the firing incident sprouted when unknown assailants gunned down two political activists in Qasba Colony on Friday night which was followed by series of shooting and target killing incidents in other parts also.
The deceased were Sharif Khan of the ANP and Mohammed Javed of the MQM.
On Saturday morning, armed men forced the closure of shops in Orangi Town, Peerabad, Qasba Colony, Paposh Nagar, Kali Pehari and Banaras areas. They also torched a mini-bus and resorted to aerial firing.
SHO Orangi Town Matiur Rehman said that on Saturday afternoon armed men opened indiscriminate fire in Bukhari Colony, injuring five persons. They were shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where they succumbed to their injuries. Three of them were identified as Awal Khan, Saeed Baadshah and Rasool Khan. The sources said the deceased were labourers and had no political affiliation.
In Mominabad, armed men attacked a Hi-roof van, killing one person and injuring another. SHO Mominabad Shabbir Ahmed said the deceased was Tooti Khan while the injured person was identified as Raaz Mohammad.
He said Tooti Khan, resident of Sohrab Goth and a trader by profession, had come to Mominabad, along with his colleague Raaz Mohammad, to purchase steel. When he reached Mominabad No-5, armed men stopped his car and opened indiscriminate fire on them. Raaz Mohammed is said to be out of danger.
Meanwhile, an employee of a private TV channel was killed in the Sharifabad police limits. SHO Sharifabad Aqeel said Sajid Ali was present outside the house of his uncle in the Liaquatabad Furniture Market, when gunmen shot him dead. Sajid received a bullet on his head.
Another person, Naek Zada, was gunned down in the C-1 area of Orangi Town. Police said the deceased was not affiliated with any political party.
Besides, armed men torched a mini-bus in Orangi Town. According to the fire office, a mini-bus of route G-7, bearing registration number JE-3407, was torched in Sector-11L, Orangi Town. A fire tender was immediately sent to extinguish the fire, but the mini-bus was completely burnt.
Girl Dies of Alleged Negligence of Doctors in Karachi

KARACHI, Pakistan News: : A 19-year-old girl has died of alleged negligence rendered by the doctors at Godhran Muslim Hospital located here in the Sector 11 of New Karachi late on Monday evening meanwhile, the hospital staff including doctors and staff members have gone in hiding..

The family members and residents of their locality, having surrounded the hospital, have staged protest against the alleged murder of girl outside the Godhran Muslim Hospital.
According to details, the girl was taken to hospital after she complained of bellyache during the day timings on Monday and was tendered medicine as the doctors at hospital diagnosed that she was suffering from high blood pressure, which had inflicted pain in her belly. Later, she was permitted to get back home cum advice of re-treatment in the evening at the same hospital.
Subsequently, she was allegedly given wrong injection at the hospital on her return for checkup in the evening while the doctors also inquired family whether they had got her treatment somewhere else as they diagnosed that her blood pressure was down to alarming level, family claimed
Moreover, doctors gave her more medicines and an injection, which took away her life late on Monday night, family further stated.
Now, all the doctors and hospital staff have vanished from hospital and gone in hiding while the family, relatives and area residents have commenced demonstration in protest against alleged murder of girl, chanting slogans and demanding government of immediate notice into the incident, media reports claimed.
Talking to Geo news, Sindh Health Minister Dr. Saghir Ahmed has said we have taken the notice of alleged negligence of doctors and vowed concrete actions against them, adding, their licenses may also be canceled.
