Latest News Updates, A Spanish lawmaker was horrified to learn that the FBI used an online photograph of him to create an image showing what Osama bin Laden might look like today.

The image using Gaspar Llamazares’ photo appeared on a wanted poster updating the U.S. government’s 1998 photo of the al-Qaeda leader.

FBI spokesman Ken Hoffman acknowledged to the Spanish newspaper El Mundo that the agency used a picture of Llamazares taken from Google Images.

In a statement Saturday, the agency would say only that it was aware of similarities between their age-progressed image “and that of an existing photograph of a Spanish public official.”

“The forensic artist was unable to find suitable features among the reference photographs and obtained those features, in part, from a photograph he found on the Internet,” the FBI said in a statement to the Associated Press.

The wanted poster appeared on the State Department website rewardsforjustice.net, listing a reward of up to $25 million. The FBI said the photo of bin Laden would be removed from the website.

Llamazares, former leader of the United Left party, was elected to Spain’s parliament in 2000. The photograph of him used to make the wanted poster originally appeared on posters for his 2004 general-election campaign.

He said he would no longer feel safe traveling to the United States after his hair and facial wrinkles appeared on the bin Laden image.

“I was surprised and angered because it’s the most shameless use of a real person to make up the image of a terrorist,” Llamazares said Saturday at a news conference. “It’s almost like out of a comedy if it didn’t deal with matters as serious as bin Laden and citizens’ security.”

Llamazares planned to ask the U.S. government for an explanation and said he reserved the right to take legal action.

Latest News Updates: The FBI has released digitally enhanced pictures of Osama bin Laden to show how the al Qaeda leader might look now.

Bureau agents have produced for the first time a photo of what they think bin Laden would look like now. The picture shows the world’s most wanted terrorist Osama Bin Laden without his turban and with a small neat beard instead of the long beard with which he is usually associated.

The lines in his face are a little deeper, and he wears a western-style shirt. The photo has been put on the US State Department’s Rewards for Justice website, along with similarly digitally enhanced examples of 17 other most wanted suspects.

LONDON news updates: A bid by one of Osama bin Laden’s sons to visit Britain was rejected by an immigration tribunal today amid questions about his proposed marriage to a British woman and his attitude to his father.
Osama Bin Laden Son Refused British Entry
Omar bin Laden, 28, lost his appeal against Britain’s refusal in April 2008 to allow him to move here with British-born Zaina Alsabah, 54, who he claimed to have married in his homeland of Saudi Arabia in 2007.

The deputy president of the asylum and immigration tribunal, Mark Ockelton, said their union “was not to be regarded as valid in English law”, partly because they were both married to other people at the time.

Ockelton said that he was “not satisfied” that the pair, who met in September 2006, had any intention of marrying or living together.

In rejecting Omar’s request last year, British authorities in Egypt, where the couple were living, cited as one reason his “continuing loyalty” to his father and said his presence in Britain could cause “public concern”.

Ockelton said a person’s parents should not count against them in deciding whether they were allowed into Britain or now, but said Omar’s view that his father was not a terrorist “might cause concern”.

“It seems to me that the presence in the United Kingdom of a person closely related to Osama bin Laden and expressing the views that the appellant does express would be likely to cause public disquiet and perhaps public disorder,” he said.

Omar is the fourth of 11 children by his father’s first wife and one of reportedly 19 fathered by the man who claimed responsibility for the September 11, 2001 attacks on the United States.

He has claimed not to have seen his father since 2000. Zaina, formerly known as Jane Felix-Browne, is a Muslim who had been married at least five times before, the tribunal ruling said.

She was described as “in poor health, suffering from multiple sclerosis”.
