15 Militants Killed as Troops Retake the City Gorgari

PESHAWAR, Pakistan News update: Security forces started operation against militants in tehsil Bara of Khyber Agency.

Fifteen militants have been killed and six arrested during security forces took control of Gorgari and hoisted national flag.

According to FC media cell, security forces launched key operation in tehsil Bara of Khyber Agency named “ Khokh Ba Desham” which means “ severe punishment to rival” in local language.

Indefinite curfew has been imposed in the rural areas of tehsil Bara prior to the operation whereas curfew break has been withdraw in urban areas. Gunship helicopters along with ground troops taking part in the action. Fifteen militants have been killed and six arrested during security forces offensive in Gorgari, Malik Deen Khel and Tirah Valley. Several hideouts and 12 vehicles have been destroyed during the action.

SBP to Announce New Policy Monitor Today

KARACHI,Pakistan News update: State Bank of Pakistan Governor Saleem Raza has said that new monitory policy will be announced on Tuesday.

According to details, he said foreign exchange reservoirs had reached to the stage of five months from three weeks.

State Bank Governor maintained that national economy was improving, adding that exports and credit demand were increasing.

He told that foreign exchange reservoirs are enough to fulfill the needs for five months.

Troops Enter Gorgari in Khyber Agency

PESHAWAR, Pakistan News Update: Security forces started operation against militants in different parts of Khyber Agency.

According to FC sources, security forces taking positions against militants in Gorgari in tehsil Bara and Chora Valley in tehsil Landi Kotal of Khyber Agency. Forces are using heavy artillery and armed vehicles against militants. FC sources told Geo News that fresh operation is a result of government’s policy to clear these areas from militants. The sources said local tribes welcomed security forces action.

Ghulam Mustafa Jatoi Dead Body In Karachi

KARACHI,Pakistan News: The dead body of Ghulam Mustafa Jatoi has arrived here at Karachi airport from London, reported on Sunday while he will be laid to rest in his native city Noshero Feroz.

According to sources, his son Ghulam Murtaza Jatoi was also along his corpse while a large number of NPP activists received in grief his body along with his relatives and sons here at airport.

His funeral prayer has been scheduled to be said in New Jatoi at 1400 hours meanwhile, provincial local body government minister Agha Siraj Durrani and other key political personalities were also present on the occasion, sources said.

Pak Violates Ceasefire Norms to Help Infiltration: Gen Deepak Kapoor

Indian Army Chief Gen Deepak Kapoor on Wednesday said Pakistan had violated ceasefire norms recently with an intention to push in more terrorists to Jammu and Kashmir before the onset of winter. Gen Kapoor, however, said India’s troops were quite alive to such tactics and giving befitting reply to contain intrusion to the valley. “There has been a violation by Pakistan in the last couple of days,” he told media after reviewing the Mounted Parade of 61st Cavalry at polo ground here. “Those violations are being used as a means by Pakistan to push in additional terrorists before the winter sets in, so that there is a degree of instability in the valley and Jammu and Kashmir. Forces are quite well versed with these tactics. They are quite alive to these tactics,” Gen Kapoor said when asked if Pakistan was violating ceasefire norms. “We have appropriately deployed the forces and they would ensure to contain any infiltration bid further,” the Chief of Army Staff said. “Let me ensure, Indian borders are extremely safe. We are fully alive to any challenges to face… Nothing worrying on borders”. Asked if western borders are under scanner, the Army Chief said, “As the winter is approaching, there will be efforts from other side to push in infiltrators. As you would have noticed, the situation in Jammu and Kashmir is peaceful for the last 7-8 months”.

Taliban Widen Afghanistan Attacks from Base in Pakistan

Senior Taliban leaders, showing a surprising level of sophistication and organization, are using their sanctuary in Pakistan to stoke a widening campaign of violence in northern and western Afghanistan, senior American military and intelligence officials say.

The Taliban’s expansion into parts of Afghanistan that it once had little influence over comes as the Obama administration is struggling to settle on a new military strategy for Afghanistan, and as the White House renews its efforts to get Pakistan’s government to be more aggressive about killing or capturing Taliban leaders inside Pakistan.

American military and intelligence officials, who insisted on anonymity because they were discussing classified information, said the Taliban’s leadership council, led by Mullah Muhammad Omar and operating around the southern Pakistani city of Quetta, was directly responsible for a wave of violence in once relatively placid parts of northern and western Afghanistan. A recent string of attacks killed troops from Italy and Germany, pivotal American allies that are facing strong opposition to the Afghan war at home.

These assessments echo a recent report by Gen. Stanley A. McChrystal, the top military commander in Afghanistan, in portraying the Taliban as an increasingly sophisticated shadow government that sees itself on the cusp of victory in the war-ravaged nation.

South Africa Vs New Zealand Today

S Africa Vs New Zealand, CENTURION: After their heart-breaking defeat in the first match, South Africa would look to bring their campaign back on track when they clash against a diffident New Zealand at  Sport Park here today.

The hosts lost by 55 runs to Sri Lanka yesterday but would take confidence from the fact that the Black Caps are coming into the event after a morale shattering Lankan tour.

The Kiwis lost their Test series in the Island nation and also failed to make the final of the tri-series, losing both the league matches.

New Zealand have a decent attack, bolstered by return of Shane Bond, but have to overcome their batting woes.

They mostly depend on the trio of Brendon McCullum, Jesse Ryder and Ross Taylor who have been far from impressive in the recent past.

Let’s hope South Africa’s second match in the ICC Champions Trophy against New Zealand proves a better spectacle than Pakistan’s low-scoring victory over West Indies.

To lose by 117 balls suggests the West Indies haven’t improved since their dismal showing against England earlier this year. Pakistan looked awesome, though.
