CHANDIGARH News: PIL Filed Against Ruchika`s School for Expelling Her, A public interest litigation (PIL) was on Monday filed against the Chandigarh based Sacred Heart School, where Ruchika Girhotra studied.

The school had claimed that Ruchika Girhotra, who was molested by former Harayana top cop S P S Rathore and later committed suicide, was removed on grounds of not paying the school fees in time, but her family was not convinced.
Ruchika’s father Subhash Girhotra on Sunday lashed out at the ex-police official and said he used his power to get Ruchika expelled from her school.
Girhotra said: “Rathore used his influence. One day the Principal called me and told that we are removing her from the school. Don’t send her to school any more.”
“The school authorities did not give us any substantial reason behind her sudden expulsion from the school. They cited some late fees related issue as a reason behind this, which was totally baseless,” he added.
Senior advocate Ranjan Lakhanpal had earlier claimed that a case will be filed against everybody involved in the Ruchika molestation case, including the school for expelling her.
“We will be seeking action against the school also as to why she was expelled, what were the reasons, and under whose pressure it was done,” Lakhanpal had said.
Ruchika Girhotra was a student of Class 10, when former Haryana DGP Rathore allegedly molested her in 1990.
Rathore was then Inspector General of Police and the head of the Haryana Lawn Tennis Federation.
Teenager Ruchika, a promising young tennis star had killed herself three years after the incident by drinking poison.
Geetanjali Giyatri, Ruchika’s classmate and a former student of Sacred Heart said, “We had heard that she was going abroad and we thought she had gone abroad after the incident, that’s why she was not showing up. We had also heard that she had left school, that’s it.”
The school is tight lipped on the whole issue and is least interested in talking about reasons for expelling Ruchika.

Bold Fresh Tour, Bill O Reilly
latest news about, Bold Fresh Tour, Bill O Reilly: The year was 1957 in September, and I had just turned eight years old. Dwight Eisenhower was president, but in my life was the captive diminutive, intense Sister Mary Lurana who ruled, at least in the third grade class that was conducted. For reasons that will soon understand, my parents had sent to the penal institution of St. Brigid School in Westbury, New York, a cruel and unusual punishment if there ever was.
I barely survived my first two years at St. Bridget, because he was, well, a bit stupid. Not satisfied with the recall of prose or the Baltimore Catechism, which included passages like “God made me to show his goodness and to make me happy with him in heaven”, I was constantly annoying my classmates and, of course, the no-nonsense Sister Lurana. With sixty overactive students in her class, was understandably little patience. To survive, she had also become quick on the draw.
Then it happened. One day I let some stupid comment, and Sister Lurana was on me like a panther. Her black habit blocked all distractions as she leaned over, looked into my eyes, and uttered words I have never forgotten: “William, you are a brave, new piece of humanity.”
And she was dead-on.
One day in 1957, in the third grade classroom of St. Brigid’s parochial school, an exasperated Sister Mary Lurana bent over a restless young William O’Reilly and said: “William, you are a brave, new piece of humanity. ” Little Did you know that she was, early in his career as a troublemaker, defining the essence of Bill O’Reilly and providing him with the title of his brash and entertaining issues-based memoir.
And this time it’s personal. In his most intimate yet, O’Reilly goes back in time to examine the people, places and experiences that launched him on his journey from working-class kid to television personality and author of influential success. Readers will learn the traditional view was formed in the crucible of his family, his neighborhood, his church and its schools, and how their views about the appropriate U.S. role in the world emerged from covering four wars in the five continents over three decades as a news correspondent. What will delight his numerous fans and surprise many others is the humor and self-criticism with which he handles one of his central themes: himself, and how O’Reilly became O’Reilly.

Jefferson Parish Public Schools
Jefferson Parish Public Schools: Latest News about, While buses are running on time and students are preparing for another year of learning, the side effects of the 2007-08 school year are still being felt throughout the Public School System Jefferson Parish.
Superintendent Diane Roussel’s proposed changes to magnet schools in the system are the development of resistance of parents do not want to mix their child to another school, while each of the nine ward system has been modified for this school year compliance with federal segregation order 1971.
In May, a federal decision generated a series of changes in the system so that the school system in full compliance with the order of segregation, including the restructuring of each district to stop transporting children of minorities to predominantly white schools.
Jefferson School Board member Ellen Kovach said the redistricting measures helped create a postponement of the traditional headaches of transportation to students in line for the first day of classes Aug. 11.
“Last year, transportation was a nightmare almost from the beginning,” Kovach said. “This year we had a lot of buses in reserve, and this year, as far as I know, everything went well, which is huge.”
Roussel said the 10 reserve buses allowed an unprecedented measure of flexibility in the transportation plan for the first day of school, but added that the end of forced school busing also played an important role despite the segregation order only affected about 1,200 of the 42,100 students in the system.
“High schools generally were not affected because they are so big and multicultural anyway,” said Roussel. “Middle schools were affected to some extent depending on where they were. It’s really elementary schools that were most affected because they are small and are based on each district. That’s what we’re going back to neighborhood schools instead of transporting children.
Students in certain areas of each district were bused to schools outside their home district before desegregation changes will affect this year, Kovach said.
“Now all the districts are contiguous,” Kovach said. “Children who live in the area go to school that is theoretically closest to your home, or are at least in my district. In some districts, I have heard that some people do not think the limits are exactly what should be, but they’re better than them. ”
Roussel said the plan is not perfect, but it was necessary for the system in compliance with the order of segregation.
Some parents were confused as to which school their children to go to the first day of school, Roussel said, but most ended in the right school, which claims to large system-scale efforts to disseminate information during the summer.
“I think the biggest lessons we have learned since last year had to do with the information,” he said. “By expanding our phone banks for desegregation and for our buses, it really helped get the information out there. We still have registration going on in our schools. Just want to get in school quickly because each day is a lost day for children who are not there. ”
The Roussel redistribution efforts have been more than five magnet schools in the system – Haynes Academy for Advanced Studies Metairie Academy for Advanced Studies, Gretna No. 2 Academy for Advanced Studies, Ruppel Academy for Advanced Studies and the Jefferson Community School – you have to be shuffled so that children on each side of the Mississippi River have comparable access.
School Board President Mark Morgan, said he sees the magnet school issue separately, and Roussel, said any changes would need to be reviewed in federal court before implementation to avoid any complication segregation.
