New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady threw for an NFL-record five touchdown passes in the second quarter of Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans. Brady threw for another TD in the third quarter, matching his career high, before leaving the game. Backup Brian Hoyer ran it in from 1 yard to make it 59-0 — a franchise record for points.

Panthers S Dante Wesley ejected (AP)

Carolina safety Dante Wesley was ejected late in the first half of Sunday’s game against Tampa Bay when he launched himself into Buccaneers punt returner Clifton Smith, who had signaled for a fair catch. The hit with 10 seconds left in the second quarter brought players from both teams off the sidelines.

For the second time in as many weeks, Rep. Michele Bachmann, (R-Minn.) insisted on Thursday that Democratic-conceived health care legislation would set up “school-based health clinics” encouraging promiscuous sexual behavior and dangerous medical procedures among the nation’s youth.

Isles F Morency suspended indefinitely (AP)

New York Islanders forward Pascal Morency has been suspended indefinitely after leaving the bench to start a fight with Calgary defenseman Dion Phaneuf. The NHL announced the suspension Friday. No date for a hearing has been set. Phaneuf’s hit knocked out Islanders forward Kyle Okposo in the second period of the Flames’ 5-4 shootout victory Thursday night in an exhibition game.
